چکیده
of enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157 pathogenesis using basic symbols. The right-hand illustration shows enterohaemorrhagic E. coli interactions with an epithelial cell.Escherichia coli O157 : H7 is a zoonotic diarrhoeal pathogen of worldwide importance. It belongs to a subset of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli that can form attaching and effacing lesions on intestinal epithelia via the action of a type 3 secretion system that injects bacterial effectors into enterocytes. Infections in humans often arise from contaminated food or direct environmental exposure and can involve life-threatening Shiga toxin-dependent sequelae. In the three decades since E. coli O157 : H7 was first recognized intensive research has helped to unravel the basis of pathogenesis, but few effective options for prevention and treatment of infections exist.

This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of foodborne pathogens, Escherichia coli, E. coli O157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes and Campylobacter spp. on slaughtered cattle in Isfahan, Iran. A total of 203 cattle carcasses were sampled by surface section of neck meat taken immediately after slaughter and analyzed using microbiological examinations. Suspected colonies to E. coli O157:H7...

Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) of the O157:H7 serotype is a worldwide zoonotic pathogen responsible for the majority of severe cases of human EHEC disease. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of E. coli O157: H7/NM in raw meat samples from two provinces of Iran. During a period from March 2010 to March 2011. Two hundred and ninety five raw meat samples were...
متن کاملStudy on the growth and survival of Escherichia coli O157:H7 during the manufacture and storage of Iranian white cheese in brine
The behaviour of Escherichia coli O157:H7 was studied during the manufacture and storage of Iranian white cheese in brine. Cheese was manufactured using pasteurized cow milk and inoculated with E. coli O157:H7 with inoculum level of 103 cfu/ml. Four treatments were designed. Cheeses were made with or without starter culture and kept immersed in 6 or 8% salt brine during ripening and storage. Ch...
متن کاملPCR detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7 directed from slaughtered cattle in Shiraz, Iran
Escheric hia coli O157:H7 lives in the intestines of healthy cattle, and can contaminate meat during slaughtering pr actices . Detection of the low infectious dosage of bacterium requires a sensitive method. We developed polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays to detect the gene Stx2 irrespective of the bacterial serotype. In this study, the detection limit of the PCR protocol in detecting Stx...
متن کاملModified Vero cell induced by Bifidobacterium bifidum inhibits enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli O157:H7 cytopathic effect
Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC), such as E. coli O157:H7, are emerging food-borne pathogens worldwide. This micro-organism can damage the epithelial tissue of the large intestine. The cytotoxic effects can be neutralized by probiotics such as Bifidobacterium bifidum. Probiotics are viable cells that have beneficial effects on the health of the host. The preventing activity of B. bifid...
